Death, Taxes and Internet Marketing

I am pretty opinionated about some things.. One of them is that I don’t want Uncle Sam taking any more of what I have worked very hard for and I am sure you feel the same.

So, this weekend was “tax stuff” weekend. The process can be painful, but it doesn’t have to be. When I started my internet business two years ago one of the first things I did was to look for a good program to help me and that is EASY and CHEAP.

I found two things that I use religiously.. and it doesn’t take much time if you do it as you go along. MLM Tax Helper by Glenn Huels saved my rear end last year when I went from owing an estimated $400.00 to getting a $1600.00 refund. Now theres a boost to the marketing budget!

I didn’t have a fancy CPA do my taxes, I filled in the program, spit out the year end report and turned it in to my regular tax guy. It only cost me $137.00 to have my taxes done. I would recommend if you are starting a business that you NEVER do your own taxes. It sends a red flag to the IRS, especially if you show a loss and you don’t know the tax laws like they do.

The second resource I use is HomeBusinessTaxSavings.com . Ron Mueller is an accredited tax professional who specializes in home based business. He has a great deal of information on his site and holds free training/informational calls to help the home business person.

While getting your taxes done is not fun, since you are a business person in the Home Business industry you have the same deductions available to you as any other small business. The best advise I can give you is to start taking advantage of them early in your business so you dont have to kick yourself later.
