Network Marketing Allure

I follow several industry leaders in the internet marketing area in order to continue to learn the things I want to know.

A couple of my favorite area’s are Affiliate Marketing and Blogging. Since blogging is the platform that I am working on to build my Affiliate business I was very nicely surprised today to see Allan Gardyne’s newsletter (Author of the Affiliate Masters Course) talking about someone I had not previously heard of.

His name is Yaro Starak, and he is a blogger in Australia. He is offering a free video (nope you dont even have to give him your email address) so I thought I would check it out.

There is some good information in this video, pretty basic stuff but more importantly he gave some links that may help some of you folks. One is http://becomeablogger.com and http://www.entrepreneurs-journey.com/

Now, before you go running off I first want to say I am NOT an affiliate of Yaro’s but I really believe in passing on good information when I find it. On becomeablogger.com there is the “New to Blogging” link on the left hand side with 10 free video’s on Wordpress. While Wordpress is relatively simple to use there are many nuances that can overwhelm the “newbie”. If that is you.. check these video’s out.

Secondly, on Yaro’s blog entrepreneurs-journey.com click on the Articles tab. I have not read all of his articles but what really stands out is the categories he covers as it relates to internet marketing.

He has a pretty complete list here that has taken quite a while to compose and write. Take advantage of the knowledge here and dont try to learn everything at once, but bookmark the site, maybe get on his RSS or email list so you know where to look if you need some help.

COLLEGE PARK, Md., April 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Affiliate Classroom, a leading publisher of educational tools for the interactive advertising industry, launched BlogClassroom, an instructional series designed to teach affiliates how to create profitable blogs.

New Partner Network Designed to Give Affiliates Expanded Access to Revenue Opportunities Across eBay Inc.’s Global Platforms

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) unveiled the eBay Partner Network, a new global affiliate program for publishers driving traffic to eBay. Officially launching on April 1^st, 2008, the eBay Partner Network will be eBay’s new in-house affiliate network, designed to more fully align the programs across eBay’s global properties and give affiliates expanded access to revenue opportunities across its platforms.

Since 2001 eBay has enabled affiliates and Web site publishers to be paid for all traffic driven to eBay. With one of the most competitive payouts in the industry and one of the broadest and deepest product selections available to affiliates, the eBay Partner Network will continue to help eBay extend the reach of its platforms to the edges of the Web. The new in-house program will allow eBay to more closely align the program with the needs of its publishers and the eBay Community, and will eventually engage all of eBay’s assets to create one of the most robust affiliate networks in existence.

As part of the move to an in-house affiliate network, eBay and Half.com will no longer run their affiliate programs through ValueClick’s Commission Junction platform. eBay’s Tradera AB, ProStores, Inc, Reseller Marketplace, Media Marketplace, eBay Stores and StubHub will not be affected and will continue their relationship with Commission Junction. eBay affiliates working with other platforms, including Affilinet and Tradedoubler, will not be affected.

Affected eBay and Half.com affiliates will be required to move their affiliate links over to the eBay Partner Network by May 1^st, 2008. eBay will continue its valued partnership with ValueClick’s technology division, Mediaplex, for ad serving, tracking and other custom projects. Why Is That, Exactly?

Are they upset because their incomes are threatened as more people move to a new — and more financially rewarding — business model?

Less people will go to the old-school upline’s trainings on ‘how to prospect friends and family’ … and less people are buying their CD’s on ‘how to develop the belief system’ necessary to do so.

Their downlines, who once spent hundreds or thousands of dollars per year on old-school tools, are now learning Internet marketing instead…  Ouch.

But wait, is their reaction justified?

Did Ann Sieg cross the line?

Control-based Leadership Vs. Empowering Leadership…

There is a movement underway right now that is being headed up by some of the highest paid uplines around… they want to silence Ann Sieg… they are trying to influence the big networking companies to threaten to take away your associate position if you promote Ann Sieg’s materials on your blog or web site…

This is highly unlikely as it violates 1st amendment rights and is reminiscent of Nazi

Regardless, the hostility of this ’angry crusade’ highlights the painful reality some uplines are experiencing as they watch times change.  Their position as the ‘guru’ is slipping away.
